Nitro PDF Pro for Windows launch time may be impacted by Windows Defender flagging some components of our software. In this scenario, the initial launch of Nitro PDF Pro can be delayed by several seconds to a minute. If you notice Nitro PDF Pro launching slowly and you have Windows Defender in your environment, you can disable it as a test through the steps listed below.
Steps to disable Windows Defender for testing purposes only:
1. Windows search for "Windows Security" and click on the result.
2. Go to the "Virus & threat protection" section and click "Manage Settings."
3. Toggle the "Real-time protection" switch to the "off" position.
Once turned off, if Nitro PDF Pro launches noticeably faster, Windows Defender is likely the root cause. We recommend turning Windows Defender protection back on, as disabling it is not a long-term solution.
A resolution would be to find an acceptable Windows Defender configuration from a security and performance point of view. Please consult with your internal security team to approve any Windows Defender changes.
