How to disable the Knowledge Assistant in Nitro PDF Pro for Windows
With the release of Nitro PDF Pro v14.19.1.29 for Windows, we have introduced our AI-powered Knowledge Assistant. Our Nitro Knowledge Assistant is there to help answer any questions you have regarding Nitro products, including PDF editing and eSigning.
Steps to disable the in-app Knowledge Assistant in Nitro PDF Pro for Windows:
Our Knowledge Assistant will be enabled by default in our Windows version of Nitro PDF Pro v14.19.1.29 or later builds. In order to disable it before installing Nitro PDF Pro, system administrators can use our Nitro Deployment Utility and uncheck the option as seen in the screenshot below when pushing the application out to users:
After installation, these are the instructions for disabling the In-App Knowledge Assistant, which will require modifying the System Registry. Any Windows Registry modification should only be performed by an IT Admin. Administrators should always create a backup of the Windows registry before making any changes.
Step 1: Close. Before performing any Windows Registry update, please close Nitro PDF Pro for Windows.
Step 2: Regedit. Launch the Windows Registry Editor by clicking Start, and typing in "Regedit".
Step 3: Navigate. Navigate to the following LOCAL MACHINE registry path:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nitro\PDF Pro\14\settings\doc_intelligence
Step 4: Disable. To disable Knowledge Assistant, please change the registry key "enabled" to "/b 0":
Once the Windows Registry has been updated, please reopen Nitro PDF Pro to verify the change. The Knowledge Assistant should no longer appear.
To re-enable the Knowledge Assistant, the "enabled" key above can instead be changed to "/b 1":
By following the above steps, users can successfully disable (or re-enable) the In-App Knowledge Assistant in Nitro PDF Pro for Windows.
