If your Document is Digitally Signed using a Digital ID or Certificate it will become restricted to certain changes made to the document in order to preserve the state of the document at the time of the Digital Signing. Digital IDs or Certificates used to sign Documents can be used for legal purposes. Digital Signature can be placed on your Document with Nitro PDF Pro through the option found in the 'Protect' tab -> 'Sign'.
Can I edit a Document that I Digitally Signed?
If you are the only signer of your Document, you can remove the Digital Signature and then continue to edit the Document.
To remove your signature, right-click the signature and then choose Clear Signature.
Is there a way to recover an unsigned version of the Document?
If you are the only signer of the Document, you can remove your signature and work on the Document. If the Document was signed by others you will need to request an unsigned copy of the document from whomever you received it from.
What if a Document is locked after a Digital Signature is placed on it?
You may choose to lock your Document after Digitally Signing it. If this option is chosen the Document will remain in a read only state, preventing any changes made to the document. If subsequent Digital Signatures need to be added to this document we would advise not to use this option. This option should only be used if you are the last person who will Digitally Sign the document.

In this scenario, the Document will need to have all Digital Signatures placed on it once again without the 'Lock document after signing' option enabled until the last person has Digitally Signed the Document.
